This work explores the intersection of color and form, presenting Mao’s image against a vivid red background that anchors the composition. Using shades of yellow and green on the face, I aimed to highlight the contours and expressions that define his character without losing a sense of calm and presence. The contrast with the blue jacket creates a strong visual tension, while the brushwork balances realism with subtle stylization to give the portrait a focused intensity. This piece reflects my ongoing interest in how color and detail can convey complex identities in a direct and compelling way.
