What inspired me? Well, Mario Andretti and I share a special bond—both being from Istria in Italy and around the same age. Andretti is widely regarded as the most successful driver in the history of motorsports, having won races in Formula One, Indy Car, the World Sportscar Championship, and NASCAR. His incredible career and his journey have always fascinated me.
Creating this artwork had its unique challenges and joys. The portrait itself, capturing Andretti’s essence, and the Ferrari he drove were particularly special elements in the process. I aimed to honor not just the man, but his extraordinary journey and achievements in the world of racing.
